Co-accused in rape, robbery case gets 25 years

The 29-year-old co-accused of Matome Lucas Phoshoko was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in the Mokerong High court on Friday (8 January 2016).

LIMPOPO – The 29-year-old co-accused of Matome Lucas Phoshoko was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in the Mokerong High court on Friday (8 January 2016) for crimes committed against the students of University of Limpopo in 2012.

Matome Lucas Phoshoko was earlier sentenced to four life sentences in August 2015.

“Mankweng police welcomed the hefty 25 years imprisonment against James Mahlatji (29),” says spokesperson fro Mankweng police station, const Matimba Maluleke.

Mahlatjie has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for rape and 15 years for robbery which will run concurrently and another ten years for house breaking.

“We believe that the sentence has sent a vivid message to the community that criminals belong to prison,” concludes Mluleke.
