UPDATE: 4 killed, 29 injured in N1 North accident

A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Makhado police station following the bus accident on the N1 North road between Louis Trichardt and Musina on Wednesday morning.

LIMPOPO -A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Makhado police station following the bus accident on the N1 North road between Louis Trichardt and Musina at around 10:00 Wednesday morning.

Provincal police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto has confirmed that 4 people were killed and 29 were injured when an Eagle Liner bus from Zimbabwe apparently lost control and overturned just after the Witvlag turn off, near Louis Trichardt.

“Two male and two female died in the accident and 29 injured of which a few are serious. Another 32 passengers did not sustain any injuries.”

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, the patients were treated and some were airlifted to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known.

Police are on the scene and road is still closed.

Motorists are still being urged to avoid the road and use the Witvlag road as an alternative when travelling to Musina concludes Otto.
