Here are eight ways to keep your children healthy during the festive season:
Before the Christmas party
Make your child a light snack before going to a dinner party. Thus will limit unhealthy food intake for the rest of the evening.

Stock lots of fruit
Instead of sweets, have a bowl of fruit on the kitchen table, it’s not only healthier but it will keep their energy levels up as well.
Be sun smart
Children love fun in the sun, so whether you are swimming or at the park, remember to pack sun screen. You wouldn’t want your child to get dehydrated or sun burnt.
100% fruit juice
Instead of keeping a fizzy drinks in the fridge, replace it with natural fruit juice. This is a healthier option for you and your child.
Limit television time
While being indoors can be fun, it can also get stifling. Make sure to stimulate your child by encouraging outdoor play. Find a balance between TV time and outdoor activities.
Water
The importance of proper hydration should be emphasised. Make sure your child drinks a lot of water during the day, especially if it is a really hot day.
Veggies:
Try to serve at least one type of vegetable with every meal to balance their diet.
Outdoor activities:
Encourage your child to participate in outdoor activities such playing ball, swimming or even a trip to the park. The fresh air will do them good.
