Feature in newspaper helps to grow his business

Being unemployed prompted Khumo Malesa to start his own business rather than wandering the streets doing nothing

POLOKWANE – Being unemployed prompted Khumo Malesa to start his own business rather than wandering the streets doing nothing.

Malesa (32), is a street vendor from Greenside Ext 44 who sells sweets and snacks at the Polokwane taxi rank.

Originally from Tzaneen, the father of two never lived a good life due to being unemployed for several years.

His journey as a street vendor started a year ago to provide for his family.

He says since his business was featured in Polokwane Express, it has grown in popularity.

“The business is going from strength to strength and I’m enjoying being a businessman. Everybody appreciates and supports my business all thanks to Express,” Malesa says.

“I came to Polokwane 11 years ago to find employment, but all my efforts were unsuccessful, however, I did not lose hope,” he says.

“I decided to start my own business and started selling sweets and snacks to pedestrians. With the money I generate I am able to buy more stock, and buy food for my family.”

Malesa says he dreams of having a big business where he can employ people and help them beat poverty and provide for their families.
