LOUIS TRICHARDT – Everyday we read about people going missing. Sometimes the person who is looking for a missing loved one does not know what to do or where to report the matter.
Review spoke to The Pink Ladies to help clarify what needs to be done in a situation where a child, spouse, parent, husband or wife is missing, as well as to find out who they are and what they do.
The Pink Ladies is a Section 21 NGO (non-govermental organisation), specialising in searches for missing persons both in South Africa and internationally. The Pink Ladies consist of a group of dedicated men and women who are full time employees and housewives, but we are also fortunate to count private investigators, psychologists, criminologists, lawyers and pastors among our members. We all have the personal mission to assist in searches for the abducted or exploited, runaway teens or missing adults – Jacqui Thomas, director of The Pink Ladies.
The following information is necessary to know when someone is missing:
• There is no waiting period to report someone as a missing person.
• Should you be told otherwise demand to speak to the senior officer until you receive service.
• When reporting a missing person you should make sure an SAPS 55 form has been filled in and a case number has been obtained.
• Thereafter contact The Pink Ladies for assistance.
