Delectable mains, delightful dessert and dazzling Christmas accessories were on the menu when Protea Hotel Ranch Resort created a festive feast in a tranquil setting ahead of the holiday rush which promises unforgettable encounters at this iconic establishment.
In the serene gardens of Protea Hotel Ranch Resort outside Polokwane a vintage gazebo served as perfect locale for a Festive Season celebration to be captured on camera for inclusion in this week’s festive edition. With Marketing Manager Paul Shearer’s penchant for attention to detail, the combination of hospitality and culinary offerings made for a most memorable encounter.
Accosted by the sounds of birdsong and aromas wafting in from the nearby rose garden off the main buildings, guests were in agreement that the seating arrangement was the perfect venue for a leisurely gathering generally characterising Christmas dinners anywhere. No one was discriminated against for afterwards wanting to kick off their shoes and putting their feet up on that lazy afternoon.
Chef Daniel Gee guided a team operating from the heart of the hotel kitchen to come up with an assortment of mains finished off with attention-grabbing presentation that wowed those who took their places at the table. Jus of salmon roulade with salmon pâté, sosatie of the sea with basmati rice as well as braised lamb shank and sautéed red cabbage with mash afforded party-goers a taste of the food journey guests usually embark on when they enter into any culinary experience at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort. Sweet indulgence in the form of blueberry cheesecake was the ideal accompaniment to the initial introduction.
According to Shearer the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort team was simultaneously gearing up for Christmas Day when they expect the usual estimated 500 guests for the annual traditional luncheon served from buffet stations throughout the premises to commence at 12:30, believed to be “quite a sight”. In the past it proved to be a huge family treat and bookings were essential, he advised.
Shearer referred to the establishment preparing for an upcoming three-day special package for accommodation on a dinner-bed-and-breakfast basis and an activity included over any three nights’ stay coinciding with Christmas. Special attention would be paid to activities for accompanying children to be entertained by a team of enthusiastic child programme supervisors throughout the duration of their stay, inclusive of movie screenings with popcorn and juice while granting their parents a dinner break. The same offer stands for New Year’s when guests can benefit from a three-day package.
By bidding 2015 farewell and making resolutions on all things exciting for the next 12 months, Protea Hotel Ranch Resort guests would have access to a new year’s bash with a difference on the last day of the year. Their fireworks display accompanying dinner and live entertainment can simply not be missed.
