Emergency maintenance on water pipeline tomorrow

Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) have scheduled a shutdown of the Olifantspoort Plant due to emergency repair work that must be done on the Specon pipeline that supplies water to the city.

POLOKWANE – Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) have scheduled a shutdown of the Olifantspoort Plant due to emergency repair work that must be done on the Specon pipeline that supplies water to the city.

“LWN is going to replace the leaking sections on the Specon pipeline tomorrow (Thursday, 3 December),” said a municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene on Wednesday.

The replacement of the pipeline will take approximately 18 hours – maintenance work will start at 06:00 and continue until 24:00 explains Chuene.

“The shutdown may disrupt supply of water to high catchment areas and the public is urged to use water sparingly during this period to ensure that reservoir levels do not drop rapidly resulting in more areas without water.”

The following areas are classified as high catchment:

Penina Park, Ivy Park Extension, Flora Park, Nirvana, Meropa, Seshego, Madiba Park and Legae La Batho.

“LNW will do all its powers to ensure that the repair will be done as planned due to the current water supply status.”

Washing of cars using hoses, watering of lawns and gardens should strictly be avoided concludes Chuene.

Residents experiencing challenges with water supply are advised to report to the municipality on 0152902376/2001/2002.
