Vhembe District to rewrite Life Science papers

A decision was made by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) for learners in the Vhembe School District to rewrite both Life Sciences Paper 1 as well as Paper 2.

POLOKWANE- A decision was made by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) for learners in the Vhembe School District to rewrite both Life Sciences Paper 1 as well as Paper 2.

The decision comes after the 2015 National Senior Certificate Examination paper for Life Sciences was leaked among learners before the writing of the exam. An investigation launched by the DBE has revealed that the leak was confined to five circuits in the Vhembe district and five learners in Gauteng and two learners in Mpumalanga. The paper was shared via popular social media app Whatsapp.

The DBE has now handed the investigation over to the Hawks who will investigate the three implicated provinces. The devices of the learners have been confiscated by the police for further forensic investigation.

Due to this, the rewrites in the Vhembe district will occur as follows:

Life Sciences Paper 1: 4 December 2015

Life Sciences Paper 2: 8 December 2015

A total of 15 960 full time and 1 540 part time learners will rewrite the exam.
