POLOKWANE – Three people died and four were injured when a truck transporting mayonnaise to Zimbabwe collided head-on with a sedan on the N1 North this morning.
The truck overturned and blocked the N1 route, with mayonnaise scattered on the road and prompting the Polokwane police to close the road.
Spokesperson for Transport, Kagiso Mootane, said the possible cause of the collision was reckless driving and overtaking in a prohibited area. She said the driver of the sedan and two passengers died, while a truck driver and two colleagues were critically injured. “Those who were injured were rushed to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital for treatment,” said Mootane.
