DJ Dup lives for the bass

Driaan, a local DJ and sales rep at Auto Image Polokwane, has played at various music events in Polokwane, Pretoria and even as far away as Mozambique and Swaziland.

POLOKWANE – Driaan Christiaan du Plessis (20), also known as DJ Dup, is a musician who likes to share his passion for music.

Driaan, a local DJ and sales rep at Auto Image Polokwane, has received his SAMRO music licence and has played at various music events in Polokwane, Pretoria and even as far away as Mozambique and Swaziland.

“I always had a love for music but first started creating my own music and mixing original songs at the age of 16. My music style is electro house and trance, but I can play different music when requested.”

“I have covered a variety of events – weddings, parties, sport events and many more. I have even covered musical events for local singers like Megan Artist,” Driaan explains.

According to Driaan the reason he loves to DJ at huge parties is the bass of the music and the adrenaline that pumps through his veins when he gets the crowd to enjoy the music with him.

Driaan is also the head of a local group known as Party Troublemaker.

In his free time he enjoys spending time at the farm next to a camp fire, and also to work on his music.

He looks up to Armand van Buuren who is a well-known Dutch trance producer, DJ and radio personality, while his father, Andries du Plessis, is also a role model.

His future goals are to expand his music portfolio to country music and play at bigger events like the Plettenberg Rage Festival, or South African Ultra.

“An ultimate dream is to play at the huge Tomorrowland Festival, which is every DJ’s dream,” said Driaan.
