Zodwa Mdingi’s combination of beauty and brains stole the show on Saturday and she was crowned as Face of Savannah. A bevy of beautiful people gathered at Savannah Mall’s Banking Mall on Saturday with one question on everyone’s lips; who will be the next Face of Savannah?
As the contestants and their supporters put the finishing touches to hair, outfits and make-up, the audience enjoyed the music of local singing group, The B-Sharps.
Martina Pretorius, organiser of the event, said the fifth annual Face of Savannah pageant was the most successful yet, with a record number of entries.
Pretorius thanked sponsors for their invaluable contributions and explained that the top six contestants would all walk away with study bursaries worth R24 000 each.

iCollege, Specsavers, Soapsuds, Divas Divine, Clicks Group of Pharmacies Polokwane, The Hub, Nissan, Cell-C Savannah, DJ McNelly, Rockhard Music Productions, B-Sharps, Chrizelle’s Hair, Cazabella, and Funky Photo Studio.
The pageant kicked off on a high note with the category for girls two to four years old. The adorable models had the audience eating from their hands with their feisty catwalk personalities and clever answers to judges’ questions.
After the little ones broke the ice, each age group had the opportunity to walk down the runway. They also had to answer difficult questions that the judges took turns to ask.
The judges were Amanda and Brandon Kriel, owners of 36 international modelling titles, Riki Van Der Westhuizen, a psychologist from Mokopane, Makgato Maite. Mrs Limpopo 2015, and Bee Fenner, representative of one of the sponsors.
Mdingi’s first princess was Caroline Mashala and Sinead Otto took third place. Nicolize Beukes was named Mrs Face of Savannah.
Brothers Freddy and Anointed Tshivhengwa won first and second place in the Mr Face of Savannah category with Medupi Ramaboea their second prince.
