New desks for Mamafa courtesy SACP

Mamafa Secondary School in the Ga-Phasha area was the beneficiary of a gesture of goodwill extended by the South African Communist Party (SACP) on Friday, when the Castro Pilusa District structure reached out by constructing 100 school desks purchased through donations raised.
Prior to departure to the school on Friday morning, SACP Castro Pilusa District Executive Committee member Samuel Ragophala said they had identified a major shortage of desks at the school whereupon they started raising funds among members of the party and the African National Congress (ANC) last month for purchasing supplies totalling an estimated R4 000. According to him the biggest need existed for desks, but in future they would want to help with chairs too.
Volunteers from Seshego, Mankweng and Moletjie would have joined their comrades from Polokwane to help with the project at the school that morning.
Ragophala highlighted the fact that the frames of old desks at the school would be re-used and in cases of interest declared by other communities in future, they could offer to assist other schools in the same fashion. Ragophala said it made them proud to assist the community and try to help government, which was experiencing a backlog in provision and maintenance of furniture to schools.
