Support continues to stream in from all spheres and across the province for Mmatema Moremi, the province’s first ever top two finalist in the SA Idols contest, ahead of the finals to be staged at Carnival City on Sunday.
Moremi hails from the Zebediela area where reportedly her church, Conquerors Through Christ Ministries, has made available laptops at all 40 of its congregations so that members can vote electronically. Each congregation serves as a voting station and the church also provides free airtime for additional votes.
In the same vein the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has set up voting stations in all districts for members of the public and employees at the various municipalities to vote for her. Departmental Spokesperson Malesela Ramaoka said they are happy with the support the people of the province have shown her on her idols journey.
“We decided to stage the voting stations and give everyone a platform to vote for her. People are behind her, they have shown they have voted for her and they just love her for what she is, that is being a songstress in her own class,” Ramaoka said and added that a massive welcoming ceremony is being planned for when she returns to the province. “She is undoubtedly our Idol and we should not shy away from welcoming her in a very big way,” Ramaoka said.
The other top two finalist is Karabo Mogane from Mpumalanga.
