Laerskool Ivypark proudly presented its Intermediate and Senior phase achievers in academics, culture and sport with awards and certificates recently.
Among the academic and cultural achievements honoured were the best learners in each grade. Grade 7 learner Boithato Makwela stood out among her peers with awards for Best Reader, Best Public Speaker, Best Mathematics Learner and to crown it all, Ivyparker of the Year. Boithato shared the Best Achiever in Grade 7 award with Amaarah Mohammed. Ayisha Lajabu was named Most Bilingual learner in Grade 7. Best Learner in grade awards also went to Nonduduzo Maseko, Grade 6, Muofhe Masindi, Grade 5 and Teballo Maupye in Grade 4.
Athletes honoured for their achievements are Boikgantsho Malebana (Junior Victrix Ludorum), Tsheo Mukhwevhu (Junior Victor Ludorum), Warren Rammutla (Senior Victor Ludorum and Athlete of the Year), Kholi Ntike (Senior Victrix Ludorum). Kholi was also named Senior Sport Girl of the Year and Thoriso Mashapa Senior Sport Boy of the Year.
Awards in netball and soccer went to Renielwe Thantsha (Netball Player of the Year, shared), Kgothatso Semenya (Netball Player of the Year, shared) and Muhle Chauke (Soccer Player of the Year).
Principal Jaap van der Westhuizen said the school was proud of the achievements and input of the learners and he wished them well for the future. “As educators we are glad to have contributed to their achievement because we don’t only teach but we touch lives. We are extremely happy to have touched their lives in that regard,” he said.
