Water supply will be affected due to maintenance on pipeline

The shutdown will disrupt supply of water to the following areas:

POLOKWANE – According to a municipal notice, Lepelle Nothern Water (LNW) effected an emergency shutdown of the Olifantspoort Plant on Monday morning.

“The Specon pipleine that supplies water to Polokwane was shut down this morning due to emergency maintenance on the line… the line must be repaired immediately to avoid further water loss,” says a municipal spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene.

The repairs are estimated to take about six hours to complete. This will unfortunaltey have a negative affect on the bulk water supply to the city and surrounding areas explains Chuene.

The shutdown will disrupt supply of water to the following areas:

Penina Park, Ivy Park Extension, Flora Park, Nirvana, Meropa, Seshego, Madiba Park and Legae La Batho. Other high catchment areas might also be affected.

The public is requested to use water sparingly during this period to ensure that reservoir levels do not drop rapidly resulting in more areas without supply.

The reservoir levels are currently very low and washing of cars using hoses, watering of lawns and gardens should strictly be avoided.

Residents experiencing challenges with water supply are advised to report to the municipality on 0152902376/2001/2002.
