Polokwane Municipality warned residents to use water sparingly after water levels at three of the city’s reservoirs including the one in Seshego measured at 0% today (Friday).
The municipality has also reduced flow to low catchment areas in order to create room for the reservoirs to pick up but the decline in water levels continued as a result of high water usage.
Affected areas included Madiba Park, Legae la Batho and Seshego Zone 2, 3, 8 and 5. Water shortages were also reported at Flora Park, Serala View, Ster Park, Bendor and Thornhill.
The water treatment plants in Seshego Zone 4 and at Dalmada opposite PEPPS Polokwane Preparatory School and College are open to the public between 8:00 and 22:00. Water tankers will also be available between 16:00 and 22:00 in affected areas.
Residents at low catchment areas are advised to limit water usage for immediate household purposes only. The municipality warned that it will commence with the issuing of spot fines to anyone who is not adhering to the limitations.
Residents who experience challenges with water supply can contact the municipality on 015 290 2376/2001/2002 for assistance.
