POLOKWANE – The DA has called for the immediate suspension of the MEC and HOD of the department of education for what the party calls a “blatant misleading of the people of Limpopo over the exam crisis”.

“The DA has been made aware of a ‘confidential’ circular sent out by the department yesterday, which effects a new timetable for the third time,” said Jacques Smalle, DA Limpopo leader.

The new timetable has the following implications:

• Life Orientation gr. 10 exam paper scheduled for Thursday , is postponed
• Economics gr. 11 paper will now be written three days later on 26 November.

“The DA takes exception to media reports which indicate that the MEC insinuated that management and leadership of schools were to blame for the current final exam crisis,” said Smalle.

“The MEC and HOD have failed to deal with the specific allegations levelled against the department, and instead have shifted the blame back-and-forth to cover up the rot that currently reeks uncontrollably.

“The DA is concerned that this ‘confidential’ circular neither guarantees the stability nor the integrity of gr.10 and 11 examinations.”
