The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court dismissed the case against a Nigerian national apprehended by Police and charged with possession of drugs and suspected stolen property last Tuesday.
The man was caught after intense investigation by Police at a home in Jorissen Street where drugs worth R18 000, dagga plants and suspected stolen property such as laptops, printers and cell phones were found in his possession.
“We have no idea why. We worked hard to support the case with sufficient evidence to bring the man to book but for some reason the case was struck from the roll and the man free to go,” Ntobeng Phala, Polokwane Police Head of Communications said.
In the meantime Isaac Mohlala who was arrested around the same time is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court again on 20 November after he was arrested for allegedly producing fraudulent documents.
Phala said information led them to an internet café on the corner of Bok and Devenish streets where 11 computer boxes allegedly used to produce false asylum documents for foreign nationals, Grade 12 certificates and Zimbabwean identity documents were seized. Mohlala faces charges of fraud. He was granted bail of R500.
