LIMPOPO – Two police officers stationed at Groblersdal police station are expected to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 November in connection with a case of corruption.

This follows after the two men, Const Isaac Lebayana (45) and WO Michael Khosa (50) were granted bail of R3 000 each after they appeared before court for the first time last Friday, following their arrests.

Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronél Otto, said the men were arrested by the anti-corruption unit after they allegedly demanded R7 000 from a suspect to make the suspect’s crime docket “disappear” from the law enforcement centre’s shelves.

Col Dorcas Letsoalo, Groblersdal police station commander, said an internal investigation will ensue before a decision is taken with regard to the officers’ employment. “At this stage we await the court’s findings as we cannot act on allegations,” Letsoalo said.
