LIMPOPO – The illegal land grabbing case that was supposed to proceed in the Polokwane High Court today was postponed to next week Tuesday due to the unpreparedness of the respondents’ lawyers.
The respondents, the Modjadji Royal Council, PME Business Enterprise, Mohale Evans Maake and Michael Moropene(Induna of Seaphole Village) appeared briefly before the court before the judge postponed the case after the legal representatives requested the court to give them time to prepare.
It is alleged that, Maake, a resident of Tzaneen and a school principal, claimed to have a permission to occupy the portion of land in question. In 2012 he removed livestock that belonged to local substance farmers and moved on his cattle.
National Spokesperson for the Land Reform, Motlatsi Lebea said the portion of land in question was also earmarked for settlement. “Maake blocked the access route that community members, including school children use to reach the school premises in another village. The case was postponed to Tuesday next week,” he said.
