LIMPOPO – The talented Essy Kekae, better known as Mampuru, is only 34-years-old but already boasts with a nomination for the best Sepedi-album during last Saturday’s prestigious 10th South African Traditional Music Achievement (SATMA) awards in Durban.

Not only was she nominated for the category but she also performed her famous song called Nala dia rotha live in front of more than 5000 guests.

“I am very honoured to be managing this very talented lady and I was so proud to see her live on stage next to well-known artists like Khemize.

“Together we plan on making her dreams a reality,” said Mphoza Machabela, owner of Mphoza’s Entertainment.

Kekae lives in Masodi Village about 5 km outside of Mokopane, and she told Bosveld: “To have been nominated was already one of my biggest achievements thus far and I am truly honoured.

“I cannot describe in words what it felt like to perform live at one of our country’s most prestigious award ceremonies.”

Machabela said they will be recording her next big hit in Johannesburg in November and he believes this is the beginning of a great career for Kekae.

Both Machabela and Kekae thanked all of her fans who voted for her and said they should keep their ears open for her next album.
