History of Brian Boswell Circus

The name “Boswell” goes back in circus history to the 1800s in England.

Brian Boswell started the Brian Boswell Circus in South Africa in 1982. The circus travels to between 90 to 100 venues in the country throughout the year, and even visits neighbouring countries.

The circus has also accepted invitations to entertain audiences abroad.

According to one of the artists, Stanley Bower also known as Carlo the Clown, the circus consists of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

“Our circus adheres to the old traditions. We are one big happy family with the bonus of not working a normal 9 to 5 office job,” Bower informs you with a broad smile.

Bower has been in the circus industry for 46 years and travelled the world as a trapeze artist.

He now works as a clown due to his age not permitting him to perform trapeze acts anymore.

“I am 60 years old and I can no longer do what I used to do.

“But now it gives me great pleasure and satisfaction when I see faces light up with bright smiles at my antics. Our two-hour show is definitely worth a visit,” he adds.
