Body found in Flora Park Dam

The police appeal to the community to help identify the man whose body was found in the Flora Park Dam on Saturday morning.

POLOKWANE – The police appeal to the community to help identify the man whose body was found in the Flora Park Dam on Saturday morning.

“He is an African man between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a blue-striped T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes,” says Capt Ntobeng Phala, Polokwane police spokesperson.

The body was discovered by James Veldman and children. “My eight-year-old daughter saw a man in the water facing down,” says Veldman.

On checking the man, he realised he was dead and immediately phoned the police. “My call was cut off before I could give the information through.”

“I then saw a police van passing in the area and I stopped it and told the police officers in the vehicle about the body.”

“When they arrived at the scene they confirmed that the man was dead,” Veldman said.

Capt Ntobeng Phala, Polokwane police spokesperson, confirmed that the man had a cut wound to his forehead and the Polokwane police are investigating a murder case.

Anyone with information that can assist the police with the investigation is requested to contact WO Gerhard Kotze at 082 744 8205 or the Polokwane police crime office at (015) 290 6604/05.
