POLOKWANE – Nirvana residents can rest assured that roadworks in their suburb forms part of the municipality’s maintenance plan.
This assurance comes after residents were wrongly informed that the municipality has no plans to resurface roads in Nirvana or repair potholes in the area because residents did not report the current deterioration of the roads in Nirvana to the Roads Agency Limpopo.
Matshidiso Mothapo, municipal spokesperson, said the municipality has a maintenance plan for all areas including Nirvana and has conducted maintenance of several streets in Nirvana.
“There were several streets rehabilitated in Nirvana during 2014/2015 as part of our plan to attend to and fix the deterioration of streets in Nirvana,” he said.
According to Mothapo the following streets were maintained after complaints were received:
Himalaya, Agra, Dehli, Cresent, Asha and Raskot.
“There is a schedule in place to repair the damaged roads in Nirvana whereby our maintenance teams are deployed upon the receipt of complain as per schedule or priority.
The following streets were rehabilitated or resurfaced during 2014/2015 financial year:
Tagore, Orient, Tabriz and Lawton. We are also using services of contractors allocated to repair several streets in Nirvana and surrounding areas for September and October,” Mothapo said.
Mothapo encourage residents to communicate with their ward councillor when they are not conversant with procedures. The ward councillor for Nirvana, Westenburg and Rainbow Park is Dorcas Madikoto.
