LIMPOPO – A Limpopo bus driver is on a mission to turn abandoned land into beautiful parks where people can relax and enjoy nature.

Aaron Monyela (50) from Kubayana village in Bolobedu near Tzaneen has a vision to create a place where people can relax with their families, have a braai, play some indigenous games like moruba and diketo, play netball or soccer, or relax on a cruise along the river.

Monyela told CV he finds inspiration from the natural beauty of the landscape, the rocks and the nearby river.

He has made boats available so people can take a slow and relaxing cruise down the river, all the while basking in the beauty of nature.

He has taken leave from his work to embrace this project full time.

“The park attracts many people over weekends and school holidays. They have a place to relax and spend quality time together, all while enjoying the scenery.”

A short distance from his park is another piece of land destined to be used to build a soccer field and swimming pools.

Monyela is very positive about the positive impact his park will have on society as it will give youths a place to come and enjoy sports, keep them off the streets and out of mischief.

Matome Malatji of Marirone said this is a good project and encouraged Monyela to continue expanding his park as he has the support of people from the villages.
