Joyce can now move freely

After 29 years of waiting and saving, Joyce Makhubele finally received her electric wheelchair.

POLOKWANE –  After 29 years of waiting and saving, Joyce Makhubele finally received her electric wheelchair.

Joyce has been disabled since birth and is unable to walk. Her sister, Sylvia has been pushing her in the wheelchair and helped her wherever she could over the years.

The Department of Social Development contacted the Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD) Limpopo, and along with the help of her father, Khensani, who sold some of his cattle to help cover the expenses, they managed to raise enough money to buy an electric wheelchair for Joyce.

Now after a lifetime of being dependent on her sister for mobility, Joyce finally has the opportunity to move around by herself with ease, making life easier for both of them.
