Community demand action over murdered man

LIMPOPO -Protesters barricaded the Punda Maria road at the place popularly known as Muumoni on Monday night.

The protests started at Ha-Mutsha and the surrounding villages near Thohoyandou after a young man’s body was found in a car on Monday night.

“The community blamed the police for not doing their jobs and blocked the Punda Maria road on Monday night,” said spokesperson for the Levubu Police, W/O Solly Mkhola Police.

“On Monday we received reports about a body locked in a car. On our arrival, we found the half naked corpse of a young-man locked in his VW Polo vehicle. His throat was slit, but the cell phone was still in his pocket.”

The police found his bloody  T-shirt near a local tavern.

“It looks like he was murdered outside and killer later squeezed his lifeless body in the car,” he said.

According to information the victim came from Gauteng and was on his way home to see relatives.

Police dispersed the crowds but they later barricaded the Khwekhwe road says WO Mkhola.

 

On Tuesday morning the Punda Maria road was opened to traffic. “The Khwekhwe access road is however still blocked with stones and burning tyres.”

The body has already been identified and a murder case has been opened.

“No arrest were made yet,” concludes Mkhola.

On Sunday this week, the Arch-Bishop of the United African Apostolic Church, Elias Mureri requested the Venda King Toni Mphephu Ramabulana to intervene in order to stop ritual killings in the Vhembe District.
