Police nab suspected rhino poachers

Two suspected rhino poachers were arrested on the R101 between Polokwane and Mokopane on Sunday evening

LIMPOPO – Two suspected rhino poachers were arrested on the R101 between Polokwane and Mokopane on Sunday evening, reported the police.

The police received information about alleged poachers on their way to shoot rhinos.

“An alert for the suspects vehicle was sent out and the vehicle was spotted by the provincial rhino task team and was forced off the road,”  said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

Two suspects were arrested and a 416 hunting rifle, an axe and a ladder were confiscated, added Otto.

 The suspects are due to appear in the Polokwane magistrates’ court on Tuesday.
