Couple attacked on Limpopo game farm

A 59-year-old woman and her husband were overpowered by four suspects at Matlopi Game Farm in the Thabazimbi area on Friday afternoon.

LIMPOPO – A 59-year-old woman and her husband were overpowered by unknown suspects when welcoming a female friend to their Matlopi Game Farm in the Thabazimbi area on Friday afternoon said the police on Saturday.

According to preliminary information Magrieta Petronella Res (59) was shot in the upper body and her husband Bruno in the arm when the suspects demanded the keys to the safe said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

The couple as well as the female visitor were locked in the cold storeroom  overnight. The suspects fled from the scene.

“The injured were only discovered around 12:00 on Saturday when more visitors arrived for an appointment and heard their cries for help. They phoned the police.”

“The police forcefully opened the door to the room and found the deceased, her injured husband and their visitor.”

The injured man was taken to a hospital at Thabazimbi. The visitor was not injured said Otto.

“It has not been confirmed exactly what was taken during the incident but it is believed that firearms were taken from the safe.”

No arrests yet. Trackers, K9 and forensic members are assisting with the investigation concludes Otto.
