Shoot-out with police leaves 2 injured

Four men between the ages of 28 and 41 were arrested in the Giyani area on Monday for pointing of a firearm and the possession of an unlicenced fire arm and ammunition

LIMPOPO – Four men between the ages of 28 and 41 were arrested in the Giyani area on Monday for pointing of a firearm and the possession of an unlicenced fire arm and ammunition.

This after the police followed up on information about a planned business robbery in the area, said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

When the police tried to arrest the four suspects at a cash loan business, a shoot-out occurred.

“Four men were arrested and two of them were shot in the process. One on the right thigh and the other on the right arm.”

Two pistols, 18x ammunition and some cable ties were recovered and seized.”

The suspects are in a stable condition and under police guard at Nkhensani Hospital. The other two are in custody.

Investigations continue, said Otto.
