Teddy bears, joyful music and baskets filled with treats created the perfect atmosphere for a picnic when the Grade R learners from Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) held their annual Teddy Bears Picnic on Friday to welcome spring.
Headmaster Karen Adlem said that they host the picnic every year and that the learners enjoy it a great deal. She further said that not even the chilly wind could have stopped them to have their picnic. “Spring is in the air and spring represents new life. I am glad that we could also celebrate spring and new life with our event,” said Adlem.
Learners brought their favourite teddy bear along. Prizes were given to learners who brought the biggest, smallest and cutest teddy and also the learner and teddy who looked most alike. Amo Selolo won the prize for the cutest teddy bear, Boitumelo Ledwaba and her teddy look a lot like each other, Beverly Shai’s teddy was the biggest and Gontse Masehela brought the smallest teddy.
