POLOKWANE -“Any driver caught driving or parking in prohibited areas will be heavily fined,” warns municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene.
“Complaints have been received by residents that trucks are holding up traffic on back roads, which are not designed for heavy loads. Trucks have also been parking in prohibited areas, and even spending the night in these areas,” Chuene explained.
The municipal traffic department will be on the lookout for truck drivers who have parked illegally or drive on roads they are not allowed to.
“Truck drivers disobeying the rules can result in collisions and the loss of lives, so we view this as very serious.”
Chuene encourages residents to be on the lookout for truck drivers disobeying the rules and report them to the traffic department.
