POLOKWANE – A tip off from a resident led to the arrest of a suspected burglar last Tuesday by the Edwel Community Policing Forum.
A suspicious person was was seen and reported at an empty house in Kmdt Danie Theron Street in Welgelegen. A member of the Edwel CPF investigated and found a man climbing over the property’s perimeter wall, which the CPF member tried to prevent the suspect from doing.
The suspect was armed with a steel kebab stick and the CPF immediately requested the police for assistance. Within minutes the police arrived and the man was taken into custody.
It was later found that the steel kebab stick had allegedly been stolen from another home in the same street.
Polokwane Police Spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, said the police were investigating whether there was a link between the suspect and other burglaries in the area.
“The police again urge residents to join the CPF in their areas and make sure that they report any strange activities to the CPF,” Ramoshaba concluded.
