Ruh Street open again

Ruh Street forms part of the Makhado Municipality's ongoing street refurbishment programme

LOUIS TRICHARDT –  Ruh Street was opened for motor vehicle use on Wednesday morning – this was after years of total disrepair and potholes.

In April this year Review reported that Ruh Street in Louis Trichardt will be rebuilt – in the first week of April, heavy machinery moved in and the top layer of the road surface was removed.

Municipal spokesperson, Louis Bobodi, confirmed that the rebuilding of Ruh Street forms part of the Makhado Municipality’s ongoing street refurbishment programme.

Street refurbishment programme

Ruh Street is not the only street earmarked for rebuilding or resurfacing. This project is just one to be financed out of the R13,7 million allocated for the upgrading of road surfaces.

Other streets to receive attention, Bobodi said, include Celliers-, Waterbessie- and Tshirululuni Street.

“The contractor appointed for the rebuilding of the streets is Mukhatshane Construction and the completion date for the contract is September 2015.

“We want to thank the community for their cooperation in this regard, their patience and the obedience of the temporary signs and regulations,” Bobodi concluded.

“A great thumbs-up for the contractor and municipality for finishing this project on time. The inconvenience was sometimes a challenge, but at the end of the day it was worth the wait.

I hope to see more projects from the municipality finished on time,” said Kobus Steyn, a resident.
