The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (Elcsa) Northern Diocese Prayer Men’s League hosted its 51st conference in Polokwane this past weekend. The event commenced with a march against women abuse, starting from the SABC Park to the Premier’s Office on Saturday.
The South African Council of Churches in Limpopo as well as other sister congregations also joined in the march to show their opposition to the abuse of women.
The two-day conference was attended by delegates from Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Tshwane regions.
Pat Moyaha, Local Organising Committee member said the march was spectacular with members singing and dancing. He said the conference had also been very successful.
According to Moyaha the conference acknowledged the damage caused by acts of violence committed by some men in the communities and affirmed that violence against women constitutes violation of the rights and fundamental freedom of women according to the scriptures and as enshrined in their constitution.
