Woman attacked in road rage incident

"He yelled and swore at me, saying I was a stupid woman and I needed a man to beat me into understanding how the world works."

POLOKWANE – Nadine Josephs, a resident, recently found herself at the hands and mercy of a very angry driver when she was involved in a violent road rage incident.

This road rage incident happened in Magazyn Street on Friday, August 21. Josephs was driving down Potgieter Avenue when a vehicle sped past and turned in front of her.

Josephs hooted at the man and turned off into Diemeer Street and then onto Magazyn Street, where she was forced off the road by a vehicle.

She stopped and it was only when the man got out of the vehicle and walked over to her that she realised it was the same man she hooted at in Potgieter Avenue.

“My window was rolled down and the man grabbed me by the throat and slammed my head against the seat. He yelled and swore at me, saying I was a stupid woman and I needed a man to beat me into understanding how the world works,” Josephs said.

The man then grabbed her car keys and threw them into the street before driving off.

“I could not remember the registration number of the vehicle as the shock of what happened overcame me.”

A case of assault was opened at the Polokwane police station.

Polokwane police spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, confirmed that a case was opened and that anyone with information on the incident and vehicle, should contact the police station. He also urged residents not to take matters into their own hands, to obey the traffic laws and keep to the set speed limits.
