Murderer sentenced to 10 years

A 3O-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment in the Mokerong magistrate's court last Wednesday after he was found guilty of murder.

LIMPOPO – A 3O-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in the Mokerong magistrate’s court last Wednesday after he was found guilty of murder.

According to a media statement by Const Sello Leso, spokesperson for the Mahwelereng police, Abel Maila tranquilised his brother, George Maila, on the evening of 27 August 2014 with a syringe to dis-empower him while he strangled Khotso Mathobela, his brother’s girlfriend, with his bare hands and laid the body next to his brother on the bed to frame him for the murder.

When George regained contiousness, he immediately realised what had happened and called the police.

Through the successful investigation by WO Bashimane Mallela, Maila was arrested and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment as well as the prohibition of firearm ownership, Leso reported.
