POLOKWANE – Ladanna residents are urged to monitor their pets following a surge in animal poisoning in the area.

 

Review speaks to Ladanna resident  whose dog recently died after being poisoned

She noticed that her dog wasn’t well, she checked the dog’s stomach and felt sharp objects pressing against the skin.

She immediately rushed the dog to the veterinarian.

However, after her dog continued bleeding, foaming at the mouth and vomiting.

When the Review phoned the police to enquire about the poisonings, Westenburg police spokesperson, Capt Mohlaka Mashiane said that they were unaware of any cases.

Residents are urged to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour and to report it to the police immediately.

 

Advise to pet owners if they suspect poisoning:

• Take your pet to a veterinarian immediately, whether the animal is dead or alive.

• Have the veterinarian examine the animal.

• If the animal has been tested positive for poisoning, ask for a medical report.

• Take the medical report to the nearest police station and open a case for the police to investigate.
