LIMPOPO – The DA in Mutale wants the mayor, Sarah Rammbuda, who allegedly used the municipality’s vehicle to attend an ANC conference to be investigated.

DA caucus leader in Mutale, Joseph Mariba, said an urgent investigation into the matter should be done and if she was found guilty on the allegations she should prepare to resign from her office or pay back the money involved in the cost of the trip.

“The DA demands an investigation. We have information on this allegation and it is unacceptable that she uses state resources for personal matters, as if she was on duty.

“We have many questions surrounding the trip. Who authorised this trip? Is there any logging for this trip? Why did she use the council vehicle, how much is the cost of the trip and which vote did they take the money from?” Mariba questioned.

He said he has forwarded the matter to the office of the Municipal Public Account Committee (MPAC) at the Mutale Municipality.

An officer at the MPAC Mutale, Sampson Madumi, confirmed they had received a letter from the DA in Mutale requesting an urgent investigation into the allegations against the mayor.

“We requested the mayor to respond to the allegations after we received the letter from the DA and we are still investigating the matter,” Madumi said.

All efforts to reach the mayor for comment were fruitless as her cellphone rang several times without being answered.
