1 killed in armed robbery

Ramoshaba confirmed a case of murder was opened and is being investigated, no arrests have yet been made.

POLOKWANE – A security guard from Fidelity Security Group lost his life on Tuesday, August 11 at the British American Tobacco corporation in MagnaVia after he was fatally shot.

According to Polokwane police spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, the security guard was picking up money when five men wearing balaclavas confronted him.

A shoot out occurred and the guard was killed.

The suspects then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in two vehicles, a BMW and a VW Polo. “The registration number showed GP but the rest of the numberplate could not be seen.

The police are calling on anyone with information relating to the case to contact their nearest police station. You can also send an SMS to 32211 with any information. All information will be kept confidential and sources will remain anonymous,” Ramoshaba said.

The Fidelity Security Group in the city did not want to comment on the guard that was killed, but confirmed that the incident did take place.
