LIMPOPO – THE money laundering, racketeering and corruption case against EFF leader, Julius Malema, was provisionally struck off the roll by the Polokwane high court just over a week ago and this gave great cause for celebration to his supporters.

Express asked some Polokwane residents what they thought about the court’s decision.

Molalo Netshifhefhe.

Molalo Netshifhefhe said the decision was fair because dealing with Malema’s case was long overdue. “I think since he is now free, there might be progress in his political party as he is now walking free without those charges hanging over his head.”

Berry Ngwenya.

Berry Ngwenya felt even though the case could be reopened at anytime, the judge’s decision was fair.

“I don’t think someone should be charged with a crime that he was not part of. But we know very well that if the prosecution does gather enough evidence, the case will be placed back on the court’s roll.”

Marcus Tlabela.

Marcus Tlabela agreed that it was a good move by the judge to strike the case off the roll. “There are many comrades among the political parties who have been charged with similar charges to Malema, but because they have money that speaks on their behalf, they were never been prosecuted.”

Thapelo Maluleke.

Thapelo Maluleke said the decision of the court is always a final decision and must be respected.

Amogelang Mabunda.

Amogelang Mabunda also agreed the decision was fair. “If there is no evidence against Malema, there is nothing that can be done but to strike the case off the roll.”
