Fidelity guard shot and killed in armed robbery

POLOKWANE – A security guard was shot and killed in an armed robbery in Polokwane on Tuesday evening.

The armed robbery took place at the premises of British American Tobacco (BAT) Corporation in Magna Via at about 17:30, said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

“Security guards from Fidelity Security Group were collecting money when they were attacked by five suspects wearing balaclavas.”

“A guard was shot in the process and he died on the scene.”

According to Otto, the suspects fled in two vehicles after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

No arrests have been made as yet.
