Cops foil armed robbers’ plan

Five suspects have been arrested in Magatle in Zebediela allegedly on their way to commit armed robbery

LIMPOPO – Five suspects have been arrested in Magatle in Zebediela on Tuesday afternoon, allegedly on their way to commit armed robbery.

According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the police received a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle driving in the area.

The police, along with the K9 unit and TRT stopped the vehicle and apprehended the five suspects, said Otto.

“During the arrest, two hand weapons, ammunition, cell phones and a laptop were confiscated. The suspects have already been linked to cases of armed robberies at shops in the Zebediela, Tinmyne and Mahwelereng and investigations to link them to even more incidents of armed robbery are ongoing,” she said.

The suspects will appear in the Magatle magistrate’s court later this week.
