VIDEO: Traffic control vehicle used as a delivery truck

"We are concerned about the abuse of state vehicles by officials in the Limpopo department of transport." DA spokesperson for transport, Katlego Suzan Phala

POLOKWANE –  “We are concerned about the abuse of state vehicles by officials in the Limpopo department of transport.”

This was said by DA spokesperson for transport, Katlego Suzan Phala in a press release on Tuesday, following the distribution of a video (supplied) showing a traffic control vehicle delivering furniture during lunch hour last week.

“The vehicle in question was seen driving along the R81 loading beds and a fridge,” said DA spokesperson Phala.

This is unacceptable and needs to be condemned in the harshest way possible she continued.

“The province currently seems to have very few marked traffic control vehicles hence traffic officers are driving departmental vehicles.”

“Some vehicles do not even have traffic lights for traffic control and operations.”

The DA will write to the chairperson of the transport and safety portfolio committee and ask MEC Mapula Phokwana-Mokaba to explain the circumstances around this particular case.

“MEC Phokwana-Mokaba must investigate the abuse of state property across the province,” stated Phala.
