Four life sentences for rapist

Matome Lucas Phoshoko (28) was sentenced by the Polokwane magistrate's court today to four life sentences plus 32 years for four counts of rape and four armed robberies (robbery under aggravating circumstances).

LIMPOPO – Matome Lucas Phoshoko (28) was sentenced by the Polokwane magistrate’s court today to four life sentences plus 32 years for four counts of rape and four armed robberies (robbery under aggravating circumstances).

 Phoshoko was arrested in June 2012 after a series of rape and house robbery cases against University of Limpopo students who resided off campus, and was successfully linked to these cases through DNA analysis.

During his trial, he escaped from police cells in 2013, but he was recaptured within a few months.

Phoshoko will be registered under the national register for sex offenders and national child protection register.
