Malema & co-accused corruption trial to start today

EFF leader Julius Malema will be back in the Polokwane magistrate's court today for the start of his fraud and corruption trial.

POLOKWANE– EFF leader Julius Malema will be back in the Polokwane magistrate’s court today for the start of his fraud and corruption trial.

Malema is facing charges including  racketeering, fraud and corruption, along with his co-accused Lesiba Gwangwa and Kagisho Dichabe.

Malema and his business partners  were previously accused of misrepresenting themselves to the department of roads and transport which allegedly lead to a R52 million contract being awarded to On-Point Engineering.

He appeared briefly before the court with his co-accused in September 2014.

Tight security will be present around the court on Monday and several roads surrounding the court will be closed.

 

This includes :

• Schoeman Street from Thabo Mbeki to Bodenstein Street;

• Landdros Mare Street from Thabo Mbeki to Bodenstein Street; and

• Hans van Rensburg Street from Thabo Mbeki to Bodenstein Street.
