Mahwelereng officers help to deliver baby

"OFFICERS at the Mahwelereng police do not only fight criminals, but if need be, can also help to deliver babies," said Const Sello Leso, spokesperson for the Mahwelereng police.

LIMPOPO – “OFFICERS at the Mahwelereng police do not only fight criminals, but if need be, can also help to deliver babies,” said Const Sello Leso, spokesperson for the Mahwelereng police.

According to Leso, a resident, Mperwane Ngoakwana rushed into the Mahwelereng police station on Tuesday morning to ask for an ambulance to take her to hospital as her water had broken.

But the baby was ready to be born and some of the female police officers assisted her with the delivery of her baby daughter.

“The ambulance took her to the Mokopane Hospital afterwards, and the officers who assisted her with the delivery surprised her at the hospital with clothes for the baby.

“Ngoakwana named her daughter Mahlatse in honour of the officers who helped her.”
