LIMPOPO –  OUTDOOR activities and gardening at Esau Mosedame Primary School in Seshego are set to improve after the school received a jungle gym and drip irrigation system that was donated to the school by the South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF) last Tuesday. The donation was handed over in commemoration of Mandela Day.

SANZAF representative, Ebrahim Tembane, said they chose the school because of their good and hard work.

“We have spent an amount of R30 000 in improving the school’s outdoor activities and gardening in knowing that this will benefit the learners.

“As a charity organi-sation, we aim to improve education in schools.

“Our organisation also gives away medals, trophies and certificates annually to learners in the hopes of encouraging them to work hard towards their studies,” said Tembane. The principal, Michael Mashaba, said the donation would really make a big difference to the learners.

“This is very good work done by SANZAF. This will change and improve the lives and education of our learners. We have received a lot of donations from the organisation since 2008 and we feel very happy to partner with them. Our garden competed against several schools’ gardens and we managed to win first place at district level. “The doantion will benefit the learners a lot,” said Mashaba.

Tshoshane Kganyago, the Seshego education circuit manager, appreciated the good work done by the school principal and his staff.

“The school is one of the best schools in the circuit. As the school has a low number of learners, we urge parents to support and register their children at the school rather than to send them to schools in the city,” said Kganyago.
