Man sentenced to 2x life for rape of 10 and 59-year-old

A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to two life terms and an additional 3 years for rape and robbery at the Sibasa regional court on Monday (yesterday).

LIMPOPO – A 33-year-old man has been sentenced at the Sibasa regional court on Monday (yesterday).

Namadzavho Khothiwa was convicted for crimes (rape and robbery) committed in 2012 and 2013 and was sentenced to two life terms and an additional 3 years, said provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

Khothiwa was convicted for the rape of  a 10 year-old on the 16 August 2012 and the robbery and rape of a 59-year-old on 29 December 2013.

“In 2012 he lured the 10-year-old from Ha Makhuvha village away from her friend to the river where he raped her and in 2013 he kidnapped, robbed and repeatedly raped the 59-year-old at knife point in the Tshilungwi forest,” explained the police spokesperson.
