Gospel singer makes stop in city

Manna Tabernacle Church hosted gospel singer, Khaya Mthethwa on Sunday.

POLOKWANE – Manna Tabernacle Church hosted gospel singer, Khaya Mthethwa on Sunday. Mthethwa, also known as The PK (Pastor’s Kid) is a South African singer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for winning the Idols South Africa season eight, he became the first black South African to have done so. He is also known as a choir member of the well-established gospel group Joyous Celebration. Pastor Strike Manganyi said he invited Mthethwa to encourage young people about the gospel of Christ. “It’s easier for young people to hear the word of God from a peer, especially when he talks about his background growing up in a Christian family with good morals and discipline,” he said.

Mthethwa said most people did not believe that pastor’s children could follow in their parents’ footsteps.

“My sister has been ordained as a pastor, both my parents are pastors and I preach to people through my music. I am grateful to be raised in a prayerful family,” Mthethwa said. Manganyi added that it was an honour to have a superstar, principled, God-fearing, talented, electrifying and inspiring young person represent young people in an effective way. He further said hosting Mthethwa was part of their 15-year anniversary celebration. The anniversary celebrations will take place from July 25 to August 2 at the church, with the main speakers being Dr David Molapo and Elijah Maswanganyi. “I invite everyone to the powerful and moving celebration and the music festival on July 31,” he concluded.
